Antidepressant Agents :
- Tricyclic Antidepresssants (TCAs) - Asendin, Elavil, Pamelor
- MAO Inhibitors - Nardil, Parnate
Lithium
- SSRI (Serotonin Uptake Inhibitors) - Wellbutrin, Prozac, Paxil
Side / Adverse Effects of Antidepressant Agents :
- CNS - depression, seizures from abrupt withdrawal
- CV - All variations
- Food reactions with MAO inhibitors- (wine, cheese, smoked meats)
May result in Hypertensive Crisis
- TCAs highly abused, overdose frequent
Toxicity of Antidepressant Agents :
- Treat Benzodiazepine ODs. with Romazicon
- MAOI O.D.s- S/S usually after 12 hours- IV Sodium Bicarbonate, Oral Procardia
- TCAs - Alkalinization- IVs with Sodium Bicarbonate
