Second Generation of Computers
Second Generation of Computers(1956-63): - The second generation computers used transistors, which were superior to vacuum tubes a transistor is made up of semi conductor, these computers were smaller compared to first generation computers.
2. Computational time of these computers was reduced to micro seconds from
mille seconds to micro seconds.
3. These computers were more portable and generated less amount of heat.
4. Assembly language was used to program computers.
5. These computers also required air conditioning
In the second generation high level languages were developed like FORTRAN,
COBOL etc,
