Psychotherapeutic :

Conditions when coping with one’s environment (activities of daily living and
personal interaction) are impaired


Three main types:

Psychosis - Major emotional disorder; loss of reality contact

Affective disorders - alteration in mood

Anxiety - unpleasant state of mind with unreal / imagined threat
 
Antipsychotic Agents :
 
 Block dopamine receptors


 Phenothiazines - Thorazine, Prolixin

 Low EPS, high sedative

 Thioxanthenes - Navane

  High EPS, low sedative

  Butyrophenones - Haldol

   High EPS

   Dibenoxazepines - (Loxitane) Schizophrenia
